Time invested in Tails of Iron gives a satisfying sense of actually affecting the world. Routes out to distant areas will have bridges built and enemies cleared to make them less tricky to navigate and treacherous. Farms and Mines will begin production again. Even the areas outside of the main cities see the same type of rebuilding. Long Tail Village’s merchants and citizens return after helping their local leader. The ravaged courtyard of Crimson Keep will become home to working rats and music after a few quests instead of being home to rubble and corpses. The player starts out ruling over a ruined land, but they will slowly and steadily build it back from the brink. Moving through the story and completing side quests has a tangible effect on the overworld. My pro strat is to save poison for boss fights, and then just dump ranged fire into them when the they’re below half health to make it end sooner.Tails of Iron rebuilds a kingdom through action. This is doubly so when poison refills are probably the rarest of resupply stations (in contrast, barrels of delicious bug juice appear at either two thirds or at least half of all save points). You can only carry three doses at a time, so this limitation makes it an asset you need to use wisely. It only exists in a single variety and makes the poisoned enemy take more damage from your attacks. Meanwhile, charged two-hander attacks not only stagger shield bearers, but they can also interrupt unblockable attacks, stunning an enemy for a time.Īnother Souls-ism is poison. You can block parry regular attacks, though that doesn’t give you any major benefits. And while the Tails of Iron’s tutorial is quite good, it doesn’t quite teach you everything. Undodgeable ones are a misnomer, as you can dodge them by dodging twice, making Redgi roll rather than scoot out of the way.
